The smoke detector shall be powered by a non-replaceable lithium battery with a 10-year life. The lithium battery shall be sealed in the device to prevent removal and/or tampering. The device shall include a photoelectric sensor. The operating temperature range should be between 0ºC and 40ºC, and the operating humidity operating shall be 10%-85% RH non-condensing relative humidity. The smoke alarm can be installed on the surface of any wall or ceiling following the Manufacturer’s approved placement guidelines. The detector shall incorporate automatic activation feature that will activate the unit as soon as it is attached to its base without any other steps. The detector shall include a test button that will electronically simulate the presence of smoke and cause the unit to go into alarm. This sequence tests the unit’s electronics, battery and horn to ensure proper operation. The device shall include a piezoelectric horn that is rated at 85 dB at 3 meters. The unit shall include a Hush feature that silences the unit for approximately 10 minutes if an nuisance alarm condition occurs. The unit shall indicate low battery condition with a brief alarm chirp once every 43 seconds. In the standby state, the LED will flash every 330 seconds. It will also blink every 10 seconds while in Hush mode. The smoke alarm shall include an end-of-battery warning where the unit shall emit a brief pulsating sound every 30 seconds to indicate that the alarm needs to be replaced. The unit shall at a minimum meet the requirements of EN 14604:2005 standard The device also includes a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty.
